Chief Executive Officer
Joseph Bressi has over 35 years experience in real estate development & financing and in general corporate finance, working on real estate projects in the USA, Canada and China.
Mr. Bressi launched Heritage Investments Capital and prior to that was President of an Ontario Limited Market Dealer focused on corporate finance and venture capital transactions based in Toronto, Canada and with operations in Hong Kong, New York and London. Previous to this, Mr. Bressi was also President of a Real Estate holding company and a Consumer Goods manufacturing company.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Raskina has over 25 years experience as a financial executive, and was a Senior Manager at a Big Four accounting firm before launching his career in real estate as a Chief Financial Officer for a private real estate development company. Prior to founding his own company Mr. Raskina was also CFO for a Toronto-based investment management company.
Experienced in financing software companies and as an advisor to high tech start-ups Mr. Raskina also beings a strong background in international taxation issues, particularly relating to real estate developments.
Mr. Raskina received his Canadian CA in 1983 and also holds an ACA accreditation granted in the United Kingdom.
Michael Spengemann, Dipl.-Kfm.
Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Spengemann has over 18 years of investment experience as an executive with four major banking companies in Canada and Germany, as well as having served as a principal of a portfolio management firm for an additional 14 years.
From 1992 to his joining Heritage, Mr. Spengemann managed investment portfolios at PKM Portfolio Services Ltd. under a global strategy focusing on growth potential through equity, bond, currency investments and joint venture opportunities through major banks in the United States and Europe. From 1988 to 1991, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Scotia Investment Management Ltd., a subsidiary of Scotiabank, responsible for the
subsidiary’s discretionary investment management business. Mr. Spengemann was a Senior Vice President of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Director Pension Funds Investments from 1982 to 1988, responsible for investment and administration of $2.5 billion (Canadian) assets including a $ 1.1 billion pension fund covering the 33.000 employees of the bank under management by a sixteen-member professional team. He served as the European Representative of Gordon Securities Limited from 1981 to 1982, developing new business relationships with European banks and financial institutions for investments in the Canadian equity and fixed income markets.
Mr. Spengemann completed a banking apprenticeship at Dresdner Bank AG and served in various management positions with Schroeder, Muenchmeyer, Hengst & Co and HypoVereins-Bank. from 1962 to 1981. He received an MBA in Banking and Investments from the University of Berlin in 1969.
Chief Compliance Officer
Over the past 30+ years Ross Phillips has been involved with the technology industry and in general corporate finance in both North America and Europe. Previously, in early 2010, Mr. Phillips was working with several start-ups on both sides of the Atlantic, as an independent investor, advisor and co-founder, and as an advisor to larger, established enterprises. He was also a partner in a boutique investment banking firm based in Toronto,Canada.
Until 1994 Mr Phillips held various senior sales, marketing & general management roles in large financial technology companies in Canada and the UK, including as EVP & Director of the Global Business Group for ACT International (now part of Misys plc – www.misys.com).
Mr Phillips is also one of the co-founders who helped launch Odyssey Financial Technologies (www.odyssey-group.com) in Luxembourg in 1995 – Odyssey is now one of the leading global wealth management & private banking software companies with operations in 14 countries and serving many of the world’s largest financial institutions. Ross built Odyssey’s North American operations from scratch through to acquisition of Xeye, a software vendor based in Toronto, in 2008.
Mr Phillips holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours Electrical Engineering) from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Canada and a diploma from the Canadian Securities Institute.
